The  japanese wood:

from chopsticks to Expo 2015 pavilion

It took place in Milan, at the Hotel Dei Cavalieri, the official presentation of the concept and the architecture of the Expo pavilion dedicated to Japan.

This inside the driving theme that Japan will present to visitors: "Diversity harmonious".

The project of the entire Japanese pavilion was conceived by the Architec Atsushi Kitagawara, famous all over the world. His projects are often based on traditional Japanese concepts that, through a process of abstraction, are converted to modern forms.

For this reason it was chosen to best represent the spirit of the Japan in an international context as Expo 2015.

During the event, we received detailed informations about the structure, the material and the design.

Numerous slides, have elucidated the mechanisms of interlocking, tensions static-dynamic, the resolution of environmental issues and for comfort and aesthetics.

Arch. Kitagawara himself, spoke highly of the project, while also addressing several questions from the press: we have learned so that the wood used is Japanese larch, imported directly from Japan and worked and assembled by an Italian firm, which has made us particularly proud.

At the end of the presentation I had the opportunity to talk personally with the architect, about the Japanese architectural themes that are so dear to me.

I also had the good fortune to receive from Kitagawara a book about his works and achievements, with a  autographed dedication.
